The Superannuation Act 1972 confers power on the relevant Secretaries of State1 to make provision by regulations for superannuation schemes applying to civil servants and persons treated for those purposes as employed in the Civil Service2, persons employed in local government service3, teachers4, and persons engaged in health services5, although the power to continue providing benefits under such schemes is now very limited6. Any regulations made with respect to local government service7, teachers8 or persons engaged in health services9 may be framed so as to apply in relation to the pensions10 which are being paid or may become payable under the regulations to or in respect of persons who, having served in an employment or office service in which qualifies persons to participate in the benefits for which the regulations provide, have
