Where an applicant wishes to proceed with an application for a patent1 to grant and the conditions for the application to be referred for a search2 are satisfied, the applicant must make a request to the UK Intellectual Property Office3 in the prescribed form for a substantive examination4 and pay the prescribed fee5.
