676. Powers exercisable for the protection of the public interest.

Where a report of the Competition and Markets Authority1 has been laid before Parliament containing conclusions to the effect:


    (1)     on a competition reference, that a person was engaged in an anti-competitive practice which operated or may be expected to operate against the public interest2; or


    (2)     on a reference of public bodies and certain other persons3, that a person is pursuing a course of conduct which operates against the public interest4,

the appropriate minister or ministers5 may apply to the registrar6 to take action under these provisions7. Before making such an application, the appropriate minister or ministers must publish,
