Where a person files a document1 at the UK Intellectual Property Office2 or sends it to an examiner or the comptroller3, any person may request that the document be treated as a confidential document4.
The comptroller must refuse any request where it relates to a Patents Form or any document filed in connection with a request for an opinion as to validity or infringement5.
A request to treat a document as confidential must be made before the end of the period of 14 days beginning immediately after the date on which the document was filed at the UK Intellectual Property Office,
