692.     Article.

In relation to old designs1, a design could be registered in respect of any article, or set of articles2. 'Article' means any article of manufacture and includes any part of an article if that part is made and sold separately3. An article must, however, perform some function other than merely carrying the design4, and a building is not an article within this definition5. Moreover, there were excluded from registration designs to be applied to any of the following articles, namely:


    (1)     works of sculpture, other than
