In addition to the two occasions when an application for a patent1 may be amended to meet an official objection2, the applicant may amend the application of his own volition, subject to certain conditions3, at any time before the patent is granted4.
The conditions are:
(1) the applicant may amend his application only within the period beginning with the date on which the applicant is informed of the examiners report5 and ending with the date on which the comptroller6 sends him the first substantive examination report7;
