A member of the House of Lords who is a peer1 may retire or otherwise resign as a member by giving notice2 in writing to the Clerk of the Parliaments3. A resignation may not be rescinded4, and a person who ceases to be a member of the House of Lords by way of resignation may not subsequently become a member of that House5.
