In the House of Commons no private business which has been opposed may be put down for Fridays1. On any sitting day, the consideration of private business is entered upon after the Speaker takes the chair; and on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays the time for private business must end not later than a quarter of an hour after the House sits, and any such business which has been entered upon but has not been disposed of by that hour must be deferred until such time as the Chairman of Ways and Means may appoint
