The precedence of business taken before the commencement of public business in the House of Commons is governed partly by standing orders and partly by practice1. The principal items of such business and the order in which they are taken are:
(1) private business2;
(2) questions and ministerial statements3; and
(3) applications for leave to move the adjournment of the House for the purpose of discussing specific and important matters that should have urgent consideration4
