830. Opening of Parliament by the monarch in person.

When the monarch opens the session in person1, she proceeds in state to the House of Lords where, seated on the Throne, she commands the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod2 to summon the Commons. All the lords are in their robes and standing until the monarch commands them to be seated.
