Motions for the adjournment of the House of Commons to debate a specific and important matter that should have urgent consideration may only be made on one of the first four days of the week, after questions1 and before public business2. A notice in writing of the matter proposed must be supplied to the Speaker before noon on a Monday, 10.30 am on a Tuesday and Wednesday, or 9.00 am on a Thursday, if the urgency of the matter is then known, or, if it is not, as soon afterwards as is practicable3.
