835. Meeting of Parliament after a demise of the Crown.

As soon as each House of Parliament meets after a demise of the Crown1, its members proceed immediately to take the oath of allegiance to the new monarch2. A message under the sign manual is sent to each House, in which the monarch acquaints the Lords and Commons of the death of his predecessor and states such other matters as may be necessary in the circumstances.

Each House votes an address condoling with the monarch upon the death of his predecessor and expressing loyalty to him upon his accession to the Crown. If the demise of the Crown has taken
