Town and village greens are expressly excepted from inclosure1, but in certain cases allotment may be made for recreation purposes2. There are restrictions on the compulsory purchase of land which is or forms part of a village or town green for the purpose of providing allotments3.
A town or village green may, in certain circumstances, be the subject of a scheme for its regulation or of a charitable scheme4.
