567. The British Waterways Board.

As the largest of the navigation authorities that manage the inland waterways system1, the British Waterways Board2 has various functions, duties and powers relating to the environment and recreation which may affect open spaces. It must, for example, in formulating or considering any proposals relating to its functions, exercise any power conferred on it with respect to the proposals so as to further the conservation and enhancement of natural beauty and the conservation of flora, fauna and geological or physiographical features of special interest
