The Hedgerow Regulations1 make provision for the protection of hedgerows2 in England and Wales3. The regulations apply to any hedgerow, or any stretch of hedgerow forming part of a hedgerow, growing in, or adjacent to, any common land4, protected land5, or land used for agriculture6, forestry or the breeding or keeping of horses, ponies or donkeys, if it has a continuous length of, or exceeding, 20 metres or if it has a continuous length of less than 20 metres and at each end meets (whether by intersection or junction) another hedgerow
