The Secretary of State or the Welsh Ministers1 may, by regulations2 make provision for, or in connection with, the protection of important hedgerows3 in England or Wales4. Regulations may provide for the application of, or include provisions comparable to, any provision contained in the planning Acts5 and may, in particular, make provision prohibiting the removal of, or the carrying out of prescribed acts in relation to, a hedgerow except in prescribed cases6.
