A relevant authority1 may2, for the purpose of conserving or enhancing the natural beauty3 or amenity of any land which is within its area or promoting its enjoyment by the public, make an agreement (a 'management agreement') with any person having an interest in the land with respect to the management of the land during a specified term or without limitation of the duration of the agreement4. An agreement as respects any interest in Crown land, other than an interest held by or on behalf of the Crown, has no effect unless approved by the appropriate authority5.
