It is the duty of Natural England1, in respect of England outside Inner London2, and the Natural Resources Body for Wales3, in respect of Wales, to prepare maps which together show all registered common land4, and all open country5.
A map so prepared must distinguish between open country and registered common land, but need not distinguish between different categories of open country6.
In preparing a map, the appropriate countryside body7 may determine not to show as open country areas of open country which are so small that the body considers that their inclusion would serve no useful purpose8, and may determine
