427. Duties of certain bodies and persons to have regard to the purposes for which national parks are designated.

A national park authority1, in pursuing the purposes of conserving and enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of an area and of promoting opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the area by the public2, must seek to foster the economic and social well-being of local communities within the national park, and must co-operate with local authorities3 and public bodies whose functions include the promotion of economic or social development within the area of the national park
