Land held by trustees (not being trustees under a local or private Act of Parliament) upon trusts for public recreation may be transferred to a local authority1 as a free gift, absolutely or for a term2. If the local authority accepts the gift it must hold the land on the same trusts and subject to the same conditions as those on which it was held by the trustees, or on such other trusts and subject to such other conditions
