352. Camping and picnic sites.

A local planning authority1 and a district council have power to provide in the countryside within their areas camping sites for holiday and recreational purposes to be used primarily as places for setting up tents2, and picnic sites for motorists and others using the roads3. Both types of site may have space for parking vehicles and a means of access to and from a road4. A local authority has power to acquire compulsorily any land required by it to carry out these functions5.
