The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council is a Council of UKRIA1
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council was established by royal charter in 1994 by the incorporation of the former Agricultural and Food Research Council1 with certain relevant research programmes of the former Science and Engineering Research Council2. The council is a research council for purposes of the Science and Technology Act 19653. The objects of the council are:
(1) to promote and support, by any means, high quality basic, strategic and applied research and related postgraduate training relating to the understanding and exploitation of biological systems
