Until a day to be appointed the following provisions have effect1.
A coroner proposing to conduct an inquest2 must notify the British Museum, if his district is in England3, or the National Museum of Wales, if it is in Wales4. Before conducting the inquest, the coroner must take reasonable steps to notify any person5 who it appears to him may have found the treasure6, and any person who, at the time the treasure was found, occupied land7 which it appears to him may be where it was found8.
