1092. Jurisdiction of coroners in respect of treasure.

Until a day to be appointed the following provisions have effect1.

A coroner has jurisdiction to inquire into any treasure which is found in his district2 and to inquire who were, or are suspected of being, the finders3, such jurisdiction being exercisable in relation to anything which is treasure4 for the purposes of the Treasure Act 19965. The jurisdiction is not exercisable for the purposes of the law relating to treasure trove in relation to anything found after 24 September 19976. An inquest held by virtue of these provisions is to be held without a jury unless the coroner orders
