The Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England ('the Commission')1 may make grants for the purpose of defraying in whole or in part any expenses incurred by a local authority or National Park authority2 in England3 in the acquisition of property4 situated in England under its statutory powers5 to acquire listed buildings compulsorily or by agreement6.
The Commission may also make grants to the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty (the 'National Trust')7 for the purposes of defraying, in whole or in part, any expenses incurred by it in the acquisition of:
