The Board of Trustees of the Armouries1 must perform its functions for the general purpose of maintaining and exhibiting a national collection of arms, armour and associated objects, and of maintaining a record relating to arms and armour and to the Tower of London2. So far as practicable and subject to the provisions of the National Heritage Act 1983, the board must:
(1) care for, preserve and add to the objects in its collection of arms, armour and associated objects3;
(2) secure that the objects are exhibited
