An equitable owner may not convey land for the purposes of the Literary and Scientific Institutions Act 1854 without the concurrence of the trustee or trustees in whom the legal estate is vested1.
Any corporation, ecclesiastical or lay, sole or aggregate, and any officers, trustees or commissioners holding land for public, ecclesiastical, parochial, charitable or other purposes or objects may, subject to certain conditions, grant or convey, for the purpose of the Literary and Scientific Institutions Act 1854, sites not exceeding one acre each in extent2.
