Where, in the exercise in relation to any land1 of any power to enter, or to do anything, on any land under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979, 2any damage has been caused to that land or to any chattels on that land, any person3 interested in that land or those chattels may recover compensation4 in respect of that damage from the Secretary of State, the Welsh Ministers, the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England ('the Commission')5 or other authority by or on whose behalf the power was exercised
