The Doncaster Area Drainage Acts 1929 and 1933 imposed obligations on mine owners1 to establish and maintain funds for the maintenance of drainage works constructed under the Acts, and to undertake certain works and liabilities consequent on the subsidence of land in the neighbourhood of the River Don by mining operations.
