Where any compensation, other than compensation by way of payment for the cost of works1, is payable by any person ('the person liable') under the Opencast Coal Act 1958, and that compensation would otherwise be payable to a person in right of an interest in land held by him for religious purposes2, then (1) if the land is ecclesiastical property3, the compensation is to be paid to the Diocesan Board of Finance for the diocese in which the land is situated4; and
