The mine operator1 must notify the Health and Safety Executive2 in writing of the use of a mine for a purpose other than the extraction of mineral, within 28 days of that event occurring3.
Where a mine has been abandoned, and also where a seam, vein system, shaft or outlet ceases to be used or has been abandoned, the owner must notify the Health and Safety Executive of the event within 28 days of its occurrence
