For the purposes of the Mines and Quarries Act 1954, 1the owner of a mine2 is the person for the time being entitled to work it3, and a liquidator, receiver or manager who carries on the business of an owner is an additional owner4.
For the purposes of the Quarries Regulations 19995, the operator in relation to a quarry6 means the person in overall control of the working of the quarry7.
