So long as the Coal Authority retains the interest1 of a freehold owner in any coal2 or coal mine3 vested in it4, it is entitled by virtue of such ownership to grant such rights in relation to that coal or coal mine as are required by any person for the purpose, under the authority of any licence5, of searching for, boring for or getting any oil or gas6 in that coal or coal mine7.
