In Derbyshire lead is principally found in two districts, the Hundred of High Peak, in which there is a district called the King's Field or King's Fee, comprising seven liberties or districts1, and an adjoining district, the Wapentake of Wirksworth, also comprising a district called the King's Field, with eight manors or liberties2.
Mining operations specifically directed at lead appear to be at an end in Derbyshire, but some lead ore can be recovered in the course of working other minerals3.
