A contributory1 may apply to the court2, within a specified period3 and on specified grounds4, for variation of a demand for recovery of the contribution5 in respect of the owner's expenses; and if the court is satisfied that the ground, or any of the grounds, of the application is made out, it may make an order reducing the amount recoverable by the owner to such amount as the court thinks fit6.
