An order for the discharge1 of a community patient, or a patient2 who is liable to be detained in a hospital3, may not be made4 by his nearest relative5, except after giving not less than 72 hours' notice in writing to the managers6 of the hospital7. If, within 72 hours after such notice has been given, the responsible clinician8 furnishes to the managers a report9 certifying that in that clinician's opinion the patient, if discharged, would be likely to act in a manner dangerous to other persons or to himself, any order made by the nearest relative in pursuance
