A tribunal may direct1 the discharge of a patient2 on a future date specified in the direction3. Where a tribunal does not direct the discharge of a patient4 the tribunal may, with a view to facilitating his future discharge5, recommend that he be granted leave of absence or transferred to another hospital6 or into guardianship and further consider his case7 in the event of such a recommendation not being complied with8.
