The responsible clinician1 may recall a community patient to hospital2 if in his opinion the patient requires medical treatment3 in hospital for his mental disorder4 and there would be a risk of harm to the health or safety of the patient or to other persons if the patient were not recalled to hospital for that purpose5. This power of recall6 is exercisable by notice in writing to the patient and such a notice is sufficient authority for the managers7 of that hospital to detain
