A patient1 who is for the time being liable to be detained or subject to guardianship2 ceases to be so liable or subject if an order in writing discharging him absolutely from detention or guardianship (an 'order for discharge') is duly3 made4. A community patient ceases to be liable to recall, and the application for admission for treatment ceases to have effect, if an order for discharge is made5.
