Patients1 suffering from mental disorder2 may be admitted, whether as informal patients3 or compulsorily4, to any hospital5; or they may be admitted as informal patients, or in some cases compulsorily6, to a registered establishment7. It is the duty of every primary care trust8 and every local health board9 to notify every social services authority for an area wholly or partly comprised within the area of the primary care trust10 or local health board specifying the hospital or hospitals administered by or otherwise available to the primary care trust11 or local health board in which arrangements are for the time
