599.     Mental disorder and mental incapacity.

The definitions of mental disorder and its various forms in the Mental Health Act 19831 are provided for the purpose of the provisions of that Act relating to the care and treatment of patients2. The same terminology may also be employed for other purposes in other legislation3. However, the fact that a person suffers from mental disorder within the meaning of the Mental Health Act 1983, even if he is liable to be detained or subject to guardianship4 under that Act, does not of itself affect
