In the Mental Health Act 1983, 'hospital' means: (1) any health service hospital within the meaning of the National Health Service Act 20061 or the National Health Service (Wales) Act 20062; (2) any accommodation provided by a local authority and used as a hospital by or on behalf of the Secretary of State under the National Health Service Act 2006; (3) any hospital as defined by the National Health Service (Wales) Act 20063 which is vested in a local health board4.
