The application for admission for treatment in respect of a patient1 does not cease to have effect by virtue of his becoming a community patient2. However, while he remains a community patient the authority of the managers3 to detain him4 in pursuance of that application is suspended5 and certain provisions in the Mental Health Act 1983 do not apply to him6.
