Where a patient1 who is admitted to hospital2 in pursuance of an application for admission or for treatment3 or a community patient4, or a patient whose community treatment order is revoked5 or a patient who is transferred from guardianship to hospital6, the managers7 of the hospital must refer the patient's case8 to the appropriate tribunal on expiry of the period of six months9 beginning with the applicable day10. The managers of the hospital must also refer the patient's case to the appropriate tribunal if a period of more than three years
