816.     Appropriate competence in England.

In relation to England, in determining whether a person has appropriate competence in dealing with persons suffering from a mental disorder1, a local service social services authority2 must take into account the following factors3:

  1.  

    (1)     that the person fulfils at least one of the professional requirements4; and

  2.  

    (2)     the following key competency areas5:

    1.  

      (a)     the application of values to the role of approved mental health professional6;

    2.  

      (b)     the application of knowledge relating to the legal and policy framework7;
