The General Medical Council1 must:
(1) establish standards of, and requirements relating to, postgraduate medical education and training, including those necessary for the award of a CCT2 in general practice and in each recognised specialty3;
(2) secure the maintenance of the standards and requirements established under head (1) above4; and
(3) develop and promote postgraduate medical education and training in the United Kingdom5.
The standards and requirements established under head (1) must include:
(a) the standards required for entry to training6;
(b) the training curricula to be followed in general practice and in each recognised speciality7;
(c) the assessment arrangements
