Before any case is considered by the investigating committee1, it must have been considered by a member of that committee appointed for the purpose by the Council2 ('the screener'), and referred by that person to the committee3. The member appointed as the screener must be a fully registered osteopath4. However, he must not be the registrar5 or a member of either the professional conduct committee or the health committee6; and he must not sit as a member of the investigating committee on any case previously considered by him in his capacity as screener7.
