The Health and Care Professions Council1 may by rules provide for the appointment of persons, to be known as screeners2, to whom allegations may be referred3. A person is not prevented from being a screener merely because he is a member of the Council4 or any of its committees5 (other than a practice committee)6, or a visitor7. No person may be a screener if he is a member of a practice committee8, a legal, medical or registrant assessor9, or employed by the Council10.
