Each of the nine regulatory bodies1 must in the exercise of its functions co-operate with the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care2. If the Authority considers that it would be desirable to do so for the protection of members of the public, it may give directions requiring a regulatory body other than Social Work England to make rules (under any power the body has to do so) to achieve an effect which must be specified in the directions3.The Privy Council must by regulations require each regulatory body other than Social Work England to pay the Professional Standards
