If at any time it appears to the Privy Council1 that: (1) the General Medical Council2 has failed to secure the maintenance of the prescribed standard of proficiency3 at examinations4; or (2) with certain exceptions5, the General Medical Council ought to exercise any power, perform any duty or do any act vested in, imposed on or authorised to be done by it by the Medical Act 1983, 6then the Privy Council may notify its opinion to the General Medical Council7.
